14 year old female injured her knee during soccer and was diagnosed with patella subluxation. She was in a considerable amount of pain, unable to bend her knee more then 40 degrees and complains of popping in her knee. Treatment over the last 3 weeks included taping, passive stretching by the therapist, and exercises for motion and strength. The goal of treatment was to stop her pain cycle, increase knee motion and return to prior level of function. She is now complains of less pain, is able to bend her knee over 120 degrees and ascend and descend stairs. A few more weeks of strengthening, balance exercises and sport conditioning and she will be on her way back to soccer.
