Aquatic Therapy

What is Aquatic Physical Therapy?
Aquatic Physical Therapy is rehabilitation that is done in a heated pool of water. Exercise instruction is given by licensed physical therapists & physical therapy assistants who are trained in aquatic physical therapy.

Who can benefit from Aquatic Physical Therapy?
People with arthritis, athletic injuries, chronic pain, Fibromyalgia, joint replacements, neck/back pain and orthopedic dysfunction.

Why does water therapy work?
Patients with arthritic joints, joint replacement, Fibromyalgia, orthopedic dysfunction and acute back pain often find it difficult to exercise due to pain. In the water your gravity is eliminated. You can weight-bear quicker and pain free. It offers low impact to painful arthritic joints. The water’s hydrostatic pressure helps reduce swelling. The water acts as resistance throughout range to help strengthen muscles. It improves your balance and helps you walk. In short it gives you a medium to exercise in and get better faster!
